That’s why we’ve collected the answers all in one place, along with tips on how to conquer this 700,000 square foot facility.
Tips for Visiting the PWPM
1. The market charges an entrance fee at the gate. Note that this fee is charged per vehicle, not by person. Be prepared with cash on hand when arriving at the gate. The fees are broken down by vehicle below:
- Cars: $1
- Station Wagons, Vans, & SUVs: $5
- Straight Job: $10
- Tractor Trailer: $35
2. Be ready to go through security. As of December 2024, all people over the age of 18 must present a valid government ID to enter the market.
3. Don’t like parallel parking in the city? Don’t worry, the PWPM has a secure and monitored parking lot to park in. All you have to do is pay the entrance fee and go through the gate to access it. There is parking for customers around the entirety of the building. If you don’t see a suitable space in the front, check out the spaces in the back!
4. Be sure to bundle up! The building is fully refrigerated and wearing jackets, beanies, and closed-toed walking shoes is recommended.
5. If you plan to visit a certain company located at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market, make sure to check their business hours as well. The market’s public hours may differ from the company’s operating hours.
6. Be mindful and be safe. The PWPM is also a fully operational warehouse. There will be rider jacks and other machinery passing as you navigate the market. Always stay within the designated walking paths when navigating the concourse area.
