Mango, Keitt

The largest of the cultivars in the US market, the Keitt are said be one of the most flavorful and tangy.Their oblong shape and dark green skin are misleading tells to whether the fruit is ripe or not.  The best way to tell is by touch, giving to slight pressure.  When ripe, you're in for a treat as the Keitt mangoes are fiber-free and smooth textured. The orange-yellow flesh is tangy and sweet with a hint of honey. Originally a seedling from an Indian variety, the Keitt is now imported from Puerto Rico, primarily, and occasionally from Ecuador.

Sporadic availability throughout the year with peak season from July - September.

Keep the mango at room temperature until ripe. Once ripe, move them to the refrigerator, which will slow down the ripening process.
